JUNIOR DESIGN STUDIO: ADAPTIVE WEAR: CONCEPT DEVELOPMENT

For my junior design studio, i chose to take my bring back '54 collection (can find in my projects section) and adjust it to where individuals who need an extra hand getting help in the morning, can wear it. i draw a lot of inspiration from cher for this collection, but am updating it to make it modern and adaptable.

I READ MANY BLOGS AND ARTICLES BEOFRE SETTLING ON THIS ADAPTABLE COLLECTION, TO MAKE SURE THIS IS SOMETHING THE COMMUNITY NEEDED. MY FINDINGS SHOWED THAT THE COMMUNITY NEEDS MORE CLOTHING LINES LIKE THIS COLLECTION, AND ONES THAT ARE SHOPPED IN THE SAME PLACE AS EVERYONE ELSE. MOST STORES THAT OFFER ADAPTABLE CLOTHING ONLY OFFER LEISURE WEAR AND DO NOT OFFER TRENDY OR HIGH FASHION OPTIONS. THEY ARE ALSO HOUSED IN A DIFFERENT LOCATION BOTH IN STORE AND ONLINE, MAKING THE ADAPTABLE COMMUNITY FEEL EXCLUDED FROM SHOPPING WITH EVERYONE ELSE. MANY OF THE BLOGS I READ ALSO SPEAK ABOUT BODY POSITIVITY FOR THE ADAPTIVE COMMUNITY, SO I DECIDED TO MAKE A COLLECTION THAT IS TRENDY, AND SHOWS MORE SKIN THAN THE OPTIONS THAT ARE OFFERED TO THEM TODAY.

HERE ARE MY FIVE CONCEPT ILLUSTRATIONS:

i have finished the gold dress on the right and have started constructing the gold two piece outfit next to it. the two outfits on the left might change next semester, as i think i can design more fitting garments. all outfits will consist of magnet snaps and pull tabs to give the adaptable aspect, as well as other adaptable designs depending on the outfit.

Attached below is the tech pack of the first three garments i will be constructing this semester. THESE ARE NOT THE FINAL TECH PACHS, AS MINOR ADJUSTMETNTS WILL BE MADE AS GARMENTS ARE BEING CONSTRUCTED. WITHIN THE TECH PACK I HAVE INCLUDED THE DETAILS PAGES AND BILL OF MATERIALS.

I CANNOT WAIT TO SHARE MY JOURNEY WITH THIS COLLECTION AND SHOW THE FINISHED COLLECTION RESULTS!!
