My favorite fashion classes

There are many classes that you take as a fashion student, some are more fun and hands on while others are more lecture and business focused. Every single class you take as a fashion student is very important for your career, but i am going to share my three favorite fashion classes.

one of my favorites was fashion forecasting my freshman year. in this class you were taught about the jobs and how tos of fashion forecasting, which i did not realize was a thing until this class. for our final, we were to make our own prediction with evidence to back it up, images of your subcategories for your prediction, and your own/wgsn articles to explain your prediction. I CHOSE to do my own the reemerging early 2000s fashion and beauty trends. i had so much fun researching and gathering all of my evidence and made a fantastic grade on my final! this project and class has really stuck with me through school, just because of how fun it is and how important it is to forecast when designing your collections.

another favorite class has to be our adobe illustrator classes. these classes were so much once i got used to managing illustrator. this is a very important class to have once you go out into the field because you will use adobe almost every day. not only is it very important, but it is very fun. from your collection concept and research phase to the mood boards to actually sketching your collection out, every single step is so much fun. EVEN THOUGH IT CAN BE QUITE A TIME CONSUMING class and can get frustrating at times, it is still one of my favorites. you have so much creative freedom in this class, which is something i personally enjoy quite a bit. i highly recommend taking this class and taking it seriously. you will learn so much for your future career and you will have fun while doing it.

my absolute favorite class, is a class i am currently in. it is design studio. i love this class because i can now see all of my previous sewing classes coming together and making something beautiful. i love this class because i can see how far i have come since walking in those doors freshman year with no sewing experience. to now having so much knowledge of sewing and really understanding all of the aspects that go into it. i still cannot believe that i make the garments i make! i feel like i have no idea what i am doing, when that is not true, and that class is helping me realize just how much i actually know. while also showing me how much i still have to learn!
